Kubiando - Winter Fairytale

In a tiny village in the north, overnight the snow came forth

The sun rose early that wintry day, when the tiny fae* came out to play

“What a wonderland!” Twilight exclaimed, “Time for Snow Fest!” she proclaimed.

All her friends in winter coats, donning shiny boots and scarves round their throats

Came to play in their snow filled land, deciding pine and holly make a fine garland

“Let’s Dress the trees!” a young one said, and before you know it, they began to thread

The barren branches with greens and nuts, soon the squirrels joined in to decorate their huts

They made little ornaments of mistletoe, using Glamour* then to set decorations aglow

Flying from house to house in the village square, more fae came out to witness the grand affair

From scraps and clothes they found in a pile, they turned and twisted to bows like a smile

Flying here and there from roof to roof, soon all the town was transformed in a poof

From the white of winter to splashes of color, “hibernation was over – stay inside no longer!

The temperature was cold, but the sun was shining! The color and happiness was almost blinding!

Soon all the town was out and about, the transformation was a literal shout!

“Let’s wake up this winter and enjoy the season now! When winter is gone, spring is its solemn vow!

No need to hide lets watch for the crocus! Be the first to see green come into focus!”

A bonfire was lit in the center of town; the adults had a feast ready when the sun went down

Tired little fae, sat down at the tables, in the middle of town, fine foods, ciders and candles

There was dancing and singing, the town all alight, Truly a Snow Fest they created that night

Chatter and Laughter rose from the town, Bonfire blazing with snow falling down

The mayor of Fayeville arose from his table to find the children and say he was thankful

There rose such a stir then, for they could not be found; soon all the fae were searching the grounds!

Finally Twy’s father yelled “Stand down, here they are!” All three of them napping, asleep by the fire

Their parent’s then took them gently to slumber,

All praise could wait till they had their best rest

The town continued on with drums, feasting, and mirth

In honor of children whose hearts brought Snow Fest.

*Fae is sometimes used as a plural form for fairies.

Kubiando!

The word Kubiando can be heard on on the tongue of faerie revelers across the world, the Kubiando site tells how this magical word was a gift from the Fae via a little girl with one foot in Faerieland. ‘Kubi’ relates to a House Spirit, and ‘ando’ means blessing or bliss, so quite literally a blessing from the heart (for the home is where the heart is).

Kubiando is more than a word; it is a way of life., It is a way of relating to the universe and planet Earth, a decision to be an inspiration to others about the importance that faith, hope and love for all can play in our daily lives. It is a reminder that playing and living in harmony with the cycles of life is such an important part of our lives no matter how old we are. The Kubiando tale is now being transformed into lyrical verse so its message can continue to be spread around the world.
